The May 6, 1925, issue of the Spectator reads, "Six of the nine Normal schools in the state have the Prom." This article highlights the desire of several students to have a Junior-Senior Prom at Eau Claire. (UWEC was known as the Eau Claire State Normal School before becoming the Eau Claire State Teachers College in 1927). After years of the student body campaigning to have a prom, the first Junior Prom was held at Eau Claire State Teachers College on May 29, 1929. They would remain a yearly occurrence through the 1960s. By 1965, the prom was being replaced by other dances and merged into other spring events. The last official “Junior Prom” was on April 30, 1966, and served as the end of a two-week International Festival.
