Student term papers from the 1950s through 1983, written for Professor Edward Blackorby’s Wisconsin History courses (HIST 154, HIST 480). All of the papers deal with local or regional history in Wisconsin. There are 14.2 linear feet of papers; the remainder of the series consists of indexes. Indexes vary in organization, quality, and completeness. The card index (boxes 16-22) is indexed by county and topic, but is ordered by entry number rather than indexing term. Restricted coversheets are organized alphabetically. A number assigned to both the paper and the coversheet links the two together.

Biographical/Historical Note
Edward C. Blackorby was born in May of 1911 in Hansboro, North Dakota. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the State Teachers Colleges in Mayville, North Dakota and both his Masters and Doctorate at the University of Minnesota. He taught at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire (then known as the Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire) in September of 1959. While at the university, he taught history. Dr. Blackorby retired in May of 1981. He passed away in August 2002.
