Also includes lists of faculty members, information about the institutions’ facilities and extracurricular organizations, Summer Session Bulletins through 1970, and course descriptions for freshman level courses from 2004-2011. Physical copies of catalogs range from 1916-2016. Biographical/Historical Note
The University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire was founded in 1916 as Eau Claire State Normal School. The first Bachelor of Education was awarded in 1927, when the institution was renamed Eau Claire State Teachers College. In 1951, the college, now renamed Wisconsin State College at Eau Claire, gained the authority to grant liberal arts degrees. In 1964, the institution’s name was changed to Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire. The name University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire was adopted in 1972 after the merger of the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin State University System.
