Content Description
This small collection contains booklets of articles of incorporation and by-laws for 1933, 1942, 1946, and 1963. The 1963 booklet contains a typed note from the Grand Secretary Elmer Anderson that those were the by-laws in force as of December 31, 1965. There is a program for the Twenty First Grand Lodge Convention and Dedication of the Scandinavian American Fraternity Building in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, from June 22-25, 1930, which includes a brief history of Norden Branch 1.

Biographical/Historical Note
The Scandinavian-American Fraternity, previously known as the Independent Scandinavian Workingmen’s Association, was founded in Chicago in the 1880s. The Eau Claire branch was started in 1889, but soon broke away from its parent organization. The Eau Claire Independent Scandinavian Workingmen’s Association formed its own Grand Lodge in 1893. The organization provided life insurance, sickness and accident funds, and emergency funds to its members. In 1950, Eau Claire’s Norden 1 Branch had 1,175 members, both male and female.
