The collection contains a fairly complete set of meeting minutes, as well as transcripts of some of the papers presented during the chapter’s early years. Other records in the collection include membership lists, correspondence from the national AAUP office to the chapter offices, fragmentary incoming and outgoing correspondence, meeting notices, policy statements and press releases from the national organization, and fragmentary materials from the Wisconsin AAUP Conference.

Biographical/Historical Note
The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) was founded in 1915 as an organization dedicated to promoting academic freedom and establishing standards for professional and institutional excellence in higher education. The University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Chapter was founded in 1946. The chapter held regular meetings in which faculty members presented their research and discussed issues including tenure and promotion, faculty salaries, collective bargaining, educational evaluation, and university governance. The chapter also sponsored student scholarships.
