Content Description
Case files containing papers on the settlement of deceased individuals' estates; including wills, inventories of real and personal property, petitions, orders, statements, and papers relating to claims against estates and to sale of lands, plus additional legal documents. Some cases concern the guardianship of minors, insane, or incompetents; insanity cases; and adoptions.
This series consists of three parts. Part I consists of wills and probate estate case files, 1873-1918. This portion is available on microfilm only (reels 1-63). Part II consists of insanity and commitment cases, adoptions, and guardianships of minors and incompetent persons for the same time period, 1873-1918 (boxes 1-15). These cases are restricted and available in paper format only. Part III consists of estate files, wills, and guardianships of minors, 1919-1925 (boxes 16-38). Insanity commitment cases, guardianship of incompetent persons cases, and adoptions were removed from Part III by the court before transferring the records to the archives. The materials are arranged numberical by case file number. Portions of this series are available only on microfilm. The microfilm was produced by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1985-1998.
