Documents filed in Eau Claire County Court concerning the probate of estates; filing of wills; guardianships of minors, insane, or incompetents; insanity and commitment cases; and adoptions. Includes petitions, orders, letters of administration, wills, and inventories of estates.

Reels 1-128 (35mm) were produced by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1990-1991, and reels 129-220 (16mm) were produced by the Eau Claire County Register in Probate's Office, 1990. Insanity and commitment cases, adoptions, and guardianships of incompetent persons cases were not filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU). GSU policy is not to film confidential records. The Wisconsin State Historical Society decided to preserve the original paper files of these types of cases. Other files have been preserved both in original paper and on microfilm because of their intrinsic value. Other originals were discarded after microfilming except as noted in the register.

The container list is divided into two distinct portions: the microfilm portion and the original paper files retained. Arrangement is numerical by case file number within each portion. Targets on reels 129-220 give the court's reel number. When requesting microfilm reels, patrons should use the archives reel number.
