These documents show the daily activities, meetings, and projects within the Department of Information Systems from ca. 1964-1979, and 2015.
The collection consists largely of department meeting minutes, including those of the Hardware and Software Committee and the Weekly Maintenance Group. Additional materials include computer user manuals, teletype and audiovisual services handbooks, a history of the equipment owned by the department, administrative charts and reports, correspondence, speeches and writings by Rudolf Polenz, Director of Management Information Systems in the 1970s, CampS book Threads, outlining the production of CampS (circa 2015), and a silent 5-minute color reel film (circa 1970) depicting the campus computing center.

Biographical/Historical Note
The University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire was founded in 1917 as the Eau Claire State Normal School. Information Systems (IS) is the study of business systems, seeking to understand people, technology and the interaction between them so as to improve the performance of individuals and organizations. It is the theory and practice of designing, developing, deploying and managing computer-enhanced information systems (taken from UWEC webpage).
Management Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire is the office responsible for administrative and academic computing. Its origins trace back to approximately 1965. Since its inception, this office has undergone a number of name changes.
