Content Description
Collection includes correspondence of letters and Western Union Telegrams from Norman Kee Hahn; numerous photographs of Hahn in the Canadian Royal Air Force and U.S. Navy, and visits home to Eau Claire, Wisconsin; news articles about Hahn serving in the war; identification cards for Canadian Royal Air Force and U.S. Navy; a pocket diary from 1941; a Royal Air Force Pilot’s Flying Log Book from 1940-1942; and artifacts of patches, pins, a wallet, and military dog tags. Includes many Canadian Royal Air Force artifacts of a gold inscribed locket to Hahn’s mother, patches, and a handkerchief. Taylor Olson, great-granddaughter of Norman “Kee” Hahn, compiled Norman’s papers and photographs into binders and added the notes attached to the letters in 2011 (photographs in Box 2, folder 3).

Biographical/Historical Note
Norman Kee Hahn was born on July 19th, 1916, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In 1940, Norman traveled to Canada to join the Royal Canadian Air Force due to the United States not entering World War II until 1941. Norman would eventually be discharged from the RCAF in 1942 for the purpose of fighting for the United States as a pilot for the U.S. Navy until he was medically discharged in 1945.
